Not all the Black Belts listed under Mike Skinner Sr. were promoted by him. Several were taken to greater than halfway under his tutelage before continuing their studies at Pacific Shaolin Kenpo. All students who eventually became Black Belts who had trained with Mike Skinner Sr. to Blue/Green Belt or beyond will be listed under his name.
Black Belt promotion credit for both Sifu Sue Messenger and Sifu John Kraft's students of Pacific Shaolin Kenpo is acknowledged on their individual biographies. These are their students taken from White to Black Belt.
Allan Huffman was a lifelong friend of Mike Skinner Jr. who trained exclusively in private lessons. He passed in 2008 unexpectedly and was promoted to Black Belt at that time.
Brian Johnson was trained to 2nd Brown Belt by Maria Warwick prior to her retirement from teaching in 1983. He was promoted in 1984 by Sibok Clay Micheau.
Also, Sam Kraft's original Black Belt certificate (ordered by Sifu John Kraft) had Sibok Clay Micheau's name listed first.
Sifu Ben Galeana promoted Coleman Carle and Albert Carter after both had trained above Green Belt at Aberdeen Kenpo Karate. In addition, he promoted his brother Teo prior to the closure of Aberdeen Shaolin Kenpo Karate.
Sam Kraft's initial Black Belt certificate from the ISKA, which was ordered by Sifu John Kraft, had Clay Micheau's name listed first on the certificate. It has since been changed to list John Kraft as first instructor.
